Where is the Balloon Girl?

Posted by A.R |

The sun overshadowed her face, couldn't quite make out what she looked like. She was a brunette, but the rays turned her hair golden as the wind blew her strands wildly and into her face. No doubt, she had a smile on her face. Her frilly white summer dress danced behind her as she ran through the big green field, throwing a happy look over her shoulders, tugging along a colourful balloon bouquet.

I dont know where that picture came from but it's there, suddenly in my head like i've seen it somewhere. I might have. It reminds me of a feeling so carefree, and one thing i always do is tell any of my insomniac friends to imagine running through a big meadow with wild flowers and long green grass that turns yellow as the season changes. At the end of the field, as far as the eye can see is where the mountains come to greet it.

It drives me crazy, so i went on a search for the balloon girl. There were some almost similar ones on flickr but it can't be linked here, so here are the ones that are available through Vi.sualize.

Not exactly running, and not exactly a bouquet and a brunette. But there's a balloon and a field! That's a good start! Beautiful picture nonetheless.

This seems carefree. I love this.

Here's the white dress and the colourful balloon bouquet!

Still havent found my balloon girl. Although the last picture by Olivia Bee seem to have a close resemblance to it. Except that the balloons were supposed to be colourful and she was supposed to be looking over her shoulder. Her pictures of flickr are awesome. Go check it out.

Anyway, do you know about the Pasar Seni Canal graffiti?

I enjoy watching them from the train. I think most of it is really artistic and beautiful except when another bomber comes and sprays over another's art. I find it rude. It's like having someone pouring paint over your canvas that you've worked on for hours. Once in a while i'll find the whole wall re-painted white. My guess is that the authority decided to clean up the wall, which i think is pointless because there are tons of other more important areas that they can choose to waste their manhour on (like on the busses and traffic offenders for example). I dont understand why they have to paint white over some dude's expression of love on Malaysia, with his art on the Twin Towers and the words of spreading love. They just haaad to go and re-paint it. But every time the wall has been painted white, new art keeps appearing bit by bit. I love to see the development! Honestly the art is better off being on the wall beside the sad looking weird coloured 'river' than an empty, moss infected wall.

One day, i saw this.

Yeap!! That's as close as it gets. The body language and all. Whoever did that, he/she's just brilliant! I look forward to the train rides everyday because of this. Until some idiot wiped out the whole 1Malaysia Graffiti Jam together with this balloon girl and the tribute to Yasmin Ahmad! Curse you for that. Thank you for being insensitive! Some people..

The picture below is probably the latest graffiti on the wall right now. I think one of the potraits was inspired by Shannen Doherty. It looked very much like her.

Much to my disappointment nowdays, i think the wall looks messy and horrible. It's time for a fresh themed images. And now that you wished the authorities would come and do their spring cleaning, you guessed it, they're not around.

Anyway, go check out some other Balloon Girls in flickr that i absolutely love.

_maelle_ - Oh i absolutely love all her Forever Young titled photos!
dreamincolour - Another of my favourite
